Education: ADVANCED (Entry Models)
Have you ever seen a setup that looked textbook-perfect, entered it immediately — and gotten chopped out, only to watch the exact same idea work beautifully ten minutes later for someone who waited? Today's session is all about entry models — the repeatable frameworks that decide not just where you trade, but how and when you actually click buy or sell.
Most traders think their entries fail because they picked the wrong direction. Usually that's not it — the direction was fine, the entry process wasn't. By the end of this session, you'll stop asking "does this look like a good trade?" and start asking "which entry model does this setup actually call for?" Because that shift is what turns a hunch into a process.
🧠 What You'll Learn
- ✔️ What an entry model actually is, and why it matters more than direction
- ✔️ The difference between risk entries and confirmation entries
- ✔️ How Break of Structure (BOS) and Change of Character (CHOCH) time your entries
- ✔️ The Liquidity Sweep → CHOCH entry model
- ✔️ The Order Block Continuation (trend-following) entry model
- ✔️ The Fair Value Gap "sniper" entry model
- ✔️ Why aggressive entries offer better risk-to-reward but more false signals
- ✔️ Why confirmation entries are safer but often pay less
- ✔️ How to combine higher-timeframe bias with a lower-timeframe trigger
- ✔️ How to pick the right entry model for the setup in front of you
📌 Key Notes — Entry Models
- An entry model is a repeatable, rule-based process. It's not a place on the chart — it's the specific criteria price has to satisfy before you're allowed to click buy or sell. No criteria met, no trade.
- Risk entries (aggressive). You enter as soon as price taps a key level — an order block, a Fair Value Gap, a liquidity level — without waiting for anything else to happen. Stops are tighter and risk-to-reward is better, but you'll eat more false signals.
- Confirmation entries (conservative). You wait for a Break of Structure or a Change of Character, then enter on the retest of that level. Fewer false signals, but because you're entering later, your risk-to-reward is smaller.
- BOS vs. CHOCH. A Break of Structure confirms the existing trend is continuing. A Change of Character is the first sign the trend may be reversing — it's a break of a minor structure point in the opposite direction of the prior trend.
- Liquidity Sweep → CHOCH model. Price sweeps a swing high or low — grabbing the stops sitting there — then breaks a minor structure point the other way. The entry is the lower-timeframe order block that caused that CHOCH.
- Order Block Continuation model. Built for markets that have already confirmed a direction. Find the unmitigated order block that caused the most recent Break of Structure, and enter as price pulls back into it.
- FVG sniper entry. A Fair Value Gap is an imbalance left behind by a fast, aggressive price move. This model enters inside that gap — often at its open or its 50% midpoint — on the idea that price tends to come back and rebalance it before continuing.
- No entry model works in isolation. Anchor it to higher-timeframe bias first — are you even looking for longs or shorts on the daily or 4H? — then drop to a lower timeframe for the actual trigger.
- Multi-timeframe confirmation cuts down bad setups. Higher timeframe gives you the point of interest and the bias; lower timeframe gives you the CHOCH or trigger that actually times the entry.
- Stop-loss placement follows the model, not a habit. Risk entries get a tight stop just beyond the level being traded. Confirmation entries anchor the stop to the swing point that created the structure shift.
- Every model is a trade-off. Being early gets you a better price and more risk of being wrong. Being confirmed gets you a safer read and a worse price. Neither is universally "best" — the market condition decides which one fits.
- The point of an entry model isn't prediction — it's process. It won't tell you the future. It gives you a repeatable set of rules so your entries stop being emotional guesses and start being decisions you can actually review and improve.
